If you have some extra time in Athens I suggest that you visit a winery or two, take a swim at Avlaki, and then have lunch either in Avlaki,or Loutsa (also called Artemida after the temple and the sanctuary). Actually if you have a stopover for 4 or 5 hours you could probably do this in about 3 hours in a private tour from Athens,or from the airport. The pay beach at Avlaki is beautiful and has a Greek island feel.
Vravrona belonged to the mythical King Kekrops, the founder of Athens.
The museum was built in the late 1960s next to the archaeological site of Vravrona to house artefacts from excavations at the sanctuary of Artemis in Vravrona. The location is near the Mare Nostrum resort.
Findings from throughout the region of Messogia are exhibited on the upper floor, which also includes a patio. The exhibits include findings from the Vravrona region, and from the nearby Merenda, dating from the prehistoric (early Copper) period to the Roman era.
The largest part of the exhibition, though, is dedicated to findings from the sanctuary of Artemis at Vravrona, the most important being sculptures of ‘she-bears’, young girls dedicated to Artemis.
The site is known for the 6th C. BC Temple of Artemis in a beautiful quiet magical places you find around Greece and to make it even more attractive the area around is farms, vineyards, olive and fig trees as well as rocks and bushes, trees and wild plants and looks like what Attika looked like in the ancient days.
